South Carolina Governor Haley Celebrates AFL’s Expansion in SC

Spartanburg SC – October 25, 2012 – AFL welcomed Governor Nikki Haley, local politicians, community leaders, media and other special guests as well as current AFL associates to an event earlier today celebrating AFL’s recent expansion in the upstate of South Carolina. Approximately 350 people attended the celebration.

AFL opened a fourth manufacturing facility on Hidden Lake Drive in the Spartangreen office park in Duncan, SC, earlier this year. The new 143,000 square foot facility will enable the company to expand its electric utility accessories business. The $8.6M investment also includes the addition of 95 new jobs.

"AFL has been a partner with this state for a very long time. But what I love about what you do is you have good quality products, you are known globally to have a good product but you keep on working on the research and development to make it better, to stay in front of the game,” stated SC Governor Nikki Haley in her remarks at the event. “For all of you associates, you should be so proud of the fact that you work for a company that's not comfortable with just settling. They're already thinking ahead to what the next industry is going to be, what the next turn is going to be, what the business plan is going to be."

Following the presentation, Governor Haley had the opportunity to learn more about fiber optic technology, how fiber optics are evolving over time and the new technologies that AFL is bringing to the various markets we serve.
