AFL Associates Volunteer Nearly 500 Hours for Cleveland Park Playground Build

Spartanburg, SC – Approximately 100 AFL associates volunteered nearly 500 hours of time to support the Cleveland Park playground build held late October in Spartanburg. Associates had the opportunity to work as teams with a skilled team leader to dig, saw, drill, paint and more, in an effort to build a 12,000 square foot playground for the community park.

“To be a part of this communitywide initiative was an unforgettable experience,” commented Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL. “Associates enjoyed seeing what they accomplished throughout the day and at the end of the week, and they will continue to see the fruits of their efforts for years to come.”

Lead by Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation, the new, interactive playground will be the largest playground fully accessible to people with all abilities in the county. The Cleveland Park Playground was a “community build” process where community members and volunteers from businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations and more, came together to serve.

AFL encourages associates to volunteer in the community. Known as an ACT (AFL Community Team) project, teams of associates give back to the community by providing various skill sets to help support organizations throughout the Upstate of South Carolina and around the world where AFL has operations.

AFL’s robust community outreach program consists of grants, associate engagement projects, environmental initiatives, disaster relief and more. To learn more about AFL’s community outreach, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
