AFL Receives Multiple SC Chamber Workplace Safety Awards
01/06/2017
Spartanburg, SC – June 2, 2017 – AFL, a leading international manufacturer of fiber optic cable and accessories, received three workplace safety awards from the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce for plants in Spartanburg County. Companies that received the award had outstanding lost workday rates during the 2016 calendar year. AFL was one of hundreds of companies in South Carolina to receive this recognition.
“Safety is a priority for everyone at AFL, whether someone is working on the manufacturing floor or sitting at a desk. It’s everyone’s responsibility to be diligent and watch for hazards that could occur and report them,” explained Doug Hoffman, EHS director for all of AFL’s operations.
AFL’s fiber optic cable facility, accessories facility and wire facility all received workplace safety awards. These facilities operate on two to three shifts per day throughout the year and safety is crucial.
AFL has specific short- and long-term goals at its manufacturing sites—in the United States and abroad. These include providing a safe work environment; regular audits to ensure conformance; and a culture that focuses on continuous improvement. AFL’s goal is to become an injury free workplace.
