AFL Recipient of SCMA Workplace Safety Award
26/03/2017
Spartanburg, SC – Two AFL facilities were honored with the South Carolina Manufacturers Association (SCMA) Plant Safety Award for outstanding workplace safety accomplishments during 2016. AFL’s fiber optic cable manufacturing facility and accessories facility, both in Duncan, received this award. Incidence rates at both locations were below the statewide average.
“AFL takes multiple precautions to ensure the health and safety of our associates every day,” explained Don Heatherly, Environment, Health and Safety manager for AFL’s five Spartanburg facilities. “Our goal is to become an injury-free workplace, and with the support and attention of our associates, we are committed to continuous improvement.”
Heatherly and Jason Chevallard, senior EHS manager, represented AFL at the ceremony. More than 100 manufacturing South Carolina facilities were honored with this award.
The SCMA is the only statewide organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of manufacturers. Its mission is to elevate the quality of life for all South Carolinians by advancing the state’s manufacturing industry. AFL has been a member of SCMA for more than 15 years.
