AFL Associates Volunteer with The Family Effect at Serenity Place

As part of AFL’s Community Outreach program, a team of AFL associates volunteered time with The Family Effect at Serenity Place, a residential treatment center for pregnant women, young mothers and pre-school age children. ACT (AFL Community Team) volunteers prepped and painted a room and landscaped the surrounding area of the building. At the conclusion of the project, ACT volunteers presented The Family Effect a check for $2,000.

“At AFL, we have the opportunity to spend quality time at various nonprofit organizations in the community like Serenity Place. This gives us a firsthand look at the needs in our community,” stated Daniel Camp, customer service manager at AFL. “It’s an eye-opening experience that stays with you. I’m proud to be part of a company that believes in making a difference by giving back to our community.”

The Family Effect is an organization that works to reduce addiction as a leading cause of family collapse and harm to children in the upstate of South Carolina. Up to 48 women and children are in treatment at the Serenity Place at any given time. Each family lives on-site for four to six months. At Serenity Place, 84 percent of women and children achieve their treatment goals while in the program.

AFL’s Community Outreach program is proud to host AFL Community Team (ACT) projects for a variety of nonprofit organizations throughout the year. To learn more about AFL and its community outreach, click here.
