AFL Receives 2012 SCMA Safety Performance Recognition Awards
11/03/2013
Spartanburg, SC – The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) presented Safety Performance Recognition Awards to AFL’s Ridgeview and Hidden Lake manufacturing operations during the annual Workforce Protection Conference held in Spartanburg, S.C. For 2012, both AFL facilities had zero injuries resulting in lost workdays, job restrictions or job transfers.
“AFL’s manufacturing facilities house a large sector of the company’s operations, so keeping them safe and operating smoothly is a huge factor in whether or not we are successful,” said Don Heatherly, environmental, health and safety (EHS) manager for AFL. “We strive to provide our customers with the best products and services on the market, and step one is to ensure the safety of our employees while maintaining productivity at our plants.”
Recipients of SCMA’s safety performance award must have a recordable and lost work day injury rate that is below the state’s average. Ridgeview manufacturing associates have worked 1.9M hours without a lost work day incident and Hidden Lake manufacturing associates have worked 3.1M hours without a lost work day incident.
AFL’s EHS program is committed to providing a safe work environment for all its associates. Policies and procedures are audited annually to expose areas that need improvement, and every associate must complete annual EHS training courses.
