AFL Presents $6,000 to Granite United Way

Belmont, NH and Spartanburg, SC – AFL, a leading global fiber optics manufacturer, presented a $6,000 donation to Granite United Way. Made possible by the joint efforts of AFL associates in Belmont, New Hampshire and Lowell, Massachusetts, the grant is part of AFL’s annual United Way campaign.

Themed “Let’s Go Crazy,” the campaign commemorated AFL’s 30-year anniversary. Over the three-week campaign, associates participated in numerous community events and activities geared toward learning about the United Way’s impact on their local community and how they can lend a helping hand. Campaign leaders organized numerous activities promoting the campaign including an 80's costume contest and weekly drawings.

“Our associates were completely engaged with this year’s United Way campaign and the results are profound!” stated Sean Adam, general manager of AFL’s test and inspection division. “We realized an increase of nearly 100 percent in associate donations that will impact our local communities.”

AFL recently was awarded the 2013 Nighswander-Chertok Award from Granite United Way for Campaign of the Year. This award recognizes a supporting partner that utilized best fundraising campaign practices over the past year that led to significant community impact.

AFL has an extensive Community Outreach Program that includes grants, ACT (AFL Community Team) projects, sponsorships, Take Root (a program to provide trees to communities), disaster relief and more. For more information about AFL and its community impact, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
