AFL Volunteers Choose Nonprofit Organizations around the World for Grants

Spartanburg, SC – AFL has awarded $14,050 to charities around the world through its Volunteers Choose program. The initiative allows associates who volunteered for a company-sponsored outreach program last year to vote for an organization of their choice to receive the annual grant. AFL affiliates in Spartanburg, SC; Monroe, NC; Atlanta, Ga; Lowell, MA; Monterrey, Mexico and Swindon, U.K. participated in this program.

The Hope Center for Children in Spartanburg, SC was awarded $10,400 to continue their initiative toward providing service, comfort and security to children affected by abuse, neglect and abandonment.

The Turning Point shelter in Monroe, NC was the recipient of a $700 grant to support women and children affected by domestic abuse.

The Quinn House in Lawrenceville, GA received a $150 grant to support its endeavors as a multi-task outreach program; including housing, food banks, thrift stores and other donations.

The Lowell General Hospital’s Cancer Center in Lowell, MA was awarded a $600 grant for its cancer treatment center.

The Centro de Atencion Multiple (C.A.M.) program received a $1,900 grant to support its educational endeavors aimed toward providing programs and education for children with disabilities and developmental disorders.

Dressability in Swindon, UK was awarded $300 to support its program which provides unique, comfortable and accessible clothing for the people with physical challenges.
