AFL Spartanburg Volunteers Award $10K to Upstate SC Organizations

Spartanburg, SC – AFL associates presented two grants totaling $10,000 to the Hope Center for Children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Upstate SC. Part of its Volunteers Choose program, this initiative invites associates who have volunteered for a company-sponsored outreach event over the past year to vote for an organization of their choice to receive the annual grant.

“AFL strives to make a difference in our community and it would not be possible without the participation from our associates,” said Corie Culp, community relations manager for AFL. “The impact of our grants on our community is extremely rewarding and motivates us year after year.”

AFL awarded $7,500 to the Hope Center for Children, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse and building stable and healthy families. The Center intends to use this grant to support its Transitional Living Program which serves young adults in need of safe housing. The program implements the Teaching-Family model with live-in family teachers and full-time case management.

AFL associates presented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Upstate SC with a $2,500 grant which will be used to help children define their natural strengths of communication through a public speaking/character development program. Boys & Girls Clubs are working to bring hope and opportunity to children in high poverty schools in the afterschool and summer hours.

AFL has an extensive Community Outreach Program which includes grants, ACT (AFL Community Team) projects, conservation initiatives, sponsorships and more. To learn more about AFL and its community outreach, visit www.AFLglobal.com.
